We know you are getting anxious to see the final points posted for the 2008 KART Southern Sprint Regional Series, and we wanted to let you know Wendy is working on them.  Because of it being a combined event w/ the KART Mid America Sprint Series, the recap info received was difficult to understand, and she is trying to get some clarifications.  She will get the points posted as soon as these issues are resolved.  Stay tuned!

11-12-2008 KART - 2009 Enduro National Championships

The 2009 KART Enduro National Championships will be June 26, 27 and 28 at Heartland Park Topeka.

We will be seeking class sponsors for this event.  Please contact Mike Baldus - (816)-331-1291 for information about sponsoring a class at this event.  As usual, with class sponsorship you will receive a reserved pit spot on the lower level parking area.

 

11-11-2008 KART - All Divisions

Scott Schrimpf (MARRS racer) was involved in a pretty serious accident on Friday, November 7th.  He was riding his bike to work when he was hit by a large diesel truck pulling a trailer.  He was in the hospital all day Friday Nov. 7, and most of Saturday, Nov. 8th.  He has a broken rib, broken collar bone and a crushed wrist.  They did surgery on his wrist but he will probably require 2 or 3 more because there was not much bone left to fix.  He is home now resting, and on strong pain killers.  He will be in a full arm cast for at least 2 months. 

 

11-1-2008 KART - All Divisions

It is with extreme sadness that we inform you of the passing of KART member Charles, "Chili" Wilhelm of Seligman, MO.  Chili passed away on October 31, 2008 in the hospital after experiencing a heart attack at his home October 28th.
 

To most of us, this fine gentleman was known as "Brian Wilhelm's uncle", and that didn't bother Chili one bit.  He was proud of his relationship with Brian and happiest when he and Brian were doing their traveling and racing together.
 

He will be sorely missed by all.  Our hearts go out to Brian and his family.

Congratulations to the Phillips and Denny families.  Maysha Phillips and James Denny were married on October 4, 2008 at the home of Maysha's parents, Nancy and Roger Hatcher.

The KART Annual Membership and Board of Directors’ Meeting will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 2008

beginning at 8 a.m. The location for this year’s meeting is at Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse second floor,

10-4-2008 KART - Mid America Road Race Series

Mid America Road Race Series final points are now posted.  Click Here to view the points.  Be sure to check your points carefully and inform the series points keeper of any discrepancies as soon as possible.  All drivers that qualify for awards are shown in GREEN.   All series points will be considered FINAL after November 9th, 2008.

 

10-2-2008 KART - Sprint & Speedway Divisions

MEMO TO KART SPRINT AND SPEEDWAY MEMBERS FROM PRESIDENT MIKE BALDUS: 

The KART President Mike Baldus, with Board approval, announces the suspension of KART National Championships’ and series’ programs for the 2009 season in the Sprint and Speedway divisions of KART.

The highly successful MASN Speedway Series, which is being promoted by middle America racers, shops and tracks, and has had several events of 400± entries, has reduced or eliminated the need for the KART Speedway National Championships.  KART’s goal from the beginning was to have national caliber races in middle America so middle America racers would not have to travel to the east and west coast areas.  

I encourage our members to support this series.

If at a future date, we need to re-activate the KART national speedway program, we will do so.

The KART Sprint national and series’ program has not had sufficient support to continue at this time (2009).  We cannot ask promoters to put on unprofitable events.  It is our hope that by suspending events in this division, the others trying for the same piece of the pie may strengthen their programs.

If circumstances change in the future, this program can be re-activated.

10-2-2008 KART - All Divisions

To all members and interested parties, from KART President Mike Baldus: 

KART has closed our Oklahoma office.  The need for a full-time administrative office is no longer necessary.  With the addition of part-time contract help, the Executive Office in Raymore, MO will handle the administrative duties also. 

I want to thank Karla and Maysha for the excellent job the Administrative Office has done over the past few years. 

KART had just one office for several years and we are just returning to that format to try and simplify operations.

If any KART/MARRS racer would like to participate in the last two SWRA events at Oak Hill, the following is being offered by Hank Cantrell and SWRA:

Any class from MARRS, minimum of 4 entries, that come to the September and October events at Oak Hill, and is top in points for those two races, SWRA will pay for 1 entry for each MARRS event in the 2009 season with exception to the KART National Championships.  That is 4 animals, 4 opens, 4 hpvs, etc., etc.   If there are any questions, please contact Hank Cantrell at hcantrell3@sbcglobal.net.

Congratulations to Jennifer and Austin Henry, proud parents of Morgan Rae Henry.  She was born on Thursday, August 14th and weighed a whopping 4lbs 10 oz.  Both Mom & Morgan are doing fine.

7-17-2008 KART - Enduro (MARRS) Series

Due to circumstances beyond KART or MARRS control, the combined CES/MARRS event at Iowa Speedway, August 15-17 2008, has been CANCELLED.  Notification of this cancellation will also be mailed to all enduro members.  We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused those who had planned to attend this event.  The next MARRS event will be at Lake Afton September 6-7, 2008.  We hope to see you all there.

More news of accidents:
Just received word that sprint racer Bailey Ring was involved in a horse-related accident this past Sunday, July 13th.  She has liver damage, bruised lungs and ribs and internal bleeding.  Mending will be a long process, but they do think she will be going home from the hospital in the next day or so.

7-09-2008 KART - All Divisions

What a difficult period for the KART family.  First the word of the passing of Enduro racer Murray Brown of Kansas City, KS in a work-related flying accident, and now we have been advised of the passing of 12 year old Speedway racer Teryn Haremza of Colby, KS in a farm-related accident. 

Our sympathies, thoughts and prayers to both of these families.
 

6-23-2008 KART - All Divisions

My apologies to you all for getting the wrong picture with the blip in the June issue of National Kart News on page 75.  We all know that the second picture is actually our webmaster Dan Davis and Nolan Waak.
The only thing I can attribute this screw up to is that when I picked up the picture from my Adobe file thingy to attach to the info I submitted, I got the wrong number.  Senior moment!

6-16-2008 KART - All Divisions

Mike Norman, a Mid America Road Race Series competitor, sustained injuries that have paralyzed him from the waist down.  He has had surgeries and will be recovering for a long time.  Mike is presently able to sit up and looks forward to when he can once again be back home. 
As of today, he is located at the Overland Park Regional Hospital at 10500 Quivira Rd. - Overland Park, Ks  66215  Phone 913-541-5000.  It is believed sometime this week he will be moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to a specialized care facility to begin his rehabilitation.
As expected, Mike is strong in spirits and glad to hear from everyone.

The Normans appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers as this will be a trying time for Mike, Helen and their family.

6-09-2008 KART - Speedway National Championships

Per the KART Speedway Directors: 
6/6/08 - KART is changing the age restrictions on Junior 2 Animal to 12 -15.  This is with the gold .313 restrictor plate.  Previously the age for this class had been 14 -15.
 
This change will be effective at the 2008 KART Speedway National Championships @ WaKeeney Mini Speedway June 12-14.
 

6-06-2008 KART - Sprint National Championships

The KART Sprint National Championships, June 20-22, 2008 @ Garnett, KS. will use Blendzall Green Label as the spec oil.  Only the spec 110 race gas and spec 91 pump gas sold at the track with Blendzall Green Label will be legal.
 
Blendzall Green Label will be available at the track for $7.00 per pint or $40.00 per gallon.

5-22-2008 KART/Mid America Sprint Series

There will be an extra paid practice day Friday, May 30 from 10:00am - 5:00pm at the Lake Garnett sprint course prior to the Mid America Sprint Series event May 31-June 1 fpr those that are interested. The price for the Friday practice is $40 + event pit pass  "Click Here" for a link to the   pre- entry form for this event.

As a side note, it appears that I-35 will be closed from 151street in Olathe Ks. to 175th street in Gardner Kansas starting May 30th @ 10:00pm and ending May 31st by 8:00am.  It would be advisable to plan to take Hwy. 169 to Garnett from 151st Street if attending either of the practice days.  Be prepared for possible highway closure on June 1st as well.....however the highway should be open for the majority of daytime travel.

 

5-06-2008 KART - Mid America Road Race Series Daily Schedule

Due to speed differentials between TaG Sr.1 & 2 and B&S Animal Sportsman 1 & 2, the race directors of the Lake Afton and Lake Garnett events have decided to run the Animal Sportsman classes with TaG Cadet ! & 2 at the remaining events run at Lake Afton and Lake Garnett.  The downloadable event schedule will be updated to reflect these changes.

It seems that the KART National Championships advertisement placed in the April 2008 issue of National Kart News magazine was last year's ad.  However, the correct dates and locations can be found on page 6 in the April issue.......and of course this site. "click here"  The correct National Championships advertisement should be printed in the May issue of NKN magazine.
